#312: Stop Looking For Inspiration & Get Self-Inspired Through Iteration

September 20, 2020 — Inspiration sounds sexy, but the only reason it exists is so that influencers and brands can sell you stuff you don’t need. Iteration is the only real path to creativity.

Do not waste ONE SECOND trying to get “inspired.” Do not watch Ted Talks. Do not browse inspiration sites. Do not expect self-help books to unlock the right “mindset.”

When you iterate on one idea for a long time, inspiration happens naturally. You become your own inspiration.

People are critical of this idea because if you’re self-inspired, it means they can’t SELL you anything.

Over and over, I have been told that my 365 Comics challenge is “too extreme.”

“Too unrealistic!”

“Too much work!”

But it’s now Day #312…

My ADHD is gone, I’m a creative powerhouse, and every morning I get to wake up and do the thing I love most.

Creativity thrives on accountability.
