March 14, 2022 — E ink screens are great for reading, but are they practical for work, and do they solve digital burnout?

Last year I replaced my iPhone with the e ink Light Phone 2, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

In general I’ve felt happier and more focused, because the internet can no longer fit in my pocket…

…but being a content creator, I spend 4–8 hours every day staring at my iMac screen, and I’ve been getting so worn down by the glow of blue light that…

Booting up my iMac felt like cashing into a technicolor slot machine with my mental health as the currency.

Enter: Boox Mira Pro

At the same time as my “tech-istential” crisis was coming to a boil, I happened to see a Reddit post about this new e ink display called the Boox Mira Pro.

It was almost $2,000 with tax, a ridiculous sum to pay for any monitor, let alone one that only displayed in grayscale.

But I loved using my Light Phone and Kindle Paperwhite so much that I got obsessed with the idea of writing, researching, and maybe even editing videos on an e ink screen.
