Last week, I cut my arm off. Not my real arm but a freelance business I’ve been running for five years called Sherpa Design Co.

I was tired of being “the website guy.”

Honestly, I should have done it a year ago. It’s just that I kept getting roped back in by the promise of quick cash. Just one more project and then I’ll write my book. Well, I need the money. Ok, this is really the last time…

For months, I pretended I could be the old me and the new me simultaneously—but a page count doesn’t lie. Actually, neither does a bank account, because I was running my soul AND my business into the ground.

It was time to say goodbye.
