Every aspiring entrepreneur (myself included) falls into this trap at some point—creating a product then trying to find a market for it. The truth is, this almost never works. You need to build an audience FIRST. It takes a long time, but eventually, people will start ASKING you to solve their problems.

That’s the promised land.

That’s the only time you should ever begin working on a product.

Another way to put it is that you can’t run a business when you’re desperate. Reduce your expenses so that you can last for a year (or indefinitely) without your audience’s support. Move in with your parents or friends.

This will make you a better writer/marketer/business person because you can take the time to build real relationships instead of having to force yourself or your work on other people…which is a lose-lose situation. Cheers! (:
