Fasting + Brain Fog (Empty Stomach Makes Food For Thought)

October 5, 2021 — Food is energy, but it also takes energy to digest, which is why you should fast while being creative.

Since I was born, I’ve eaten breakfast roughly 10,000 times, which is even longer than I’ve been walking on two feet.

Milk, cereal, eggs, sausage, banana…the idea of starting my day with a “balanced breakfast” made perfect sense.

But as I moved through high school and college, it seemed like I was crashing earlier in the day — to the point where I had to have a cup of coffee just to get out the front door.

By the time I started freelancing, I was drinking 2–3 cups per day and snacking constantly to keep my energy up…

My brain felt like the cloudy halls of a haunted house, and food was the fog machine.

Hack: Fast For Thought

In 2020, I cut out coffee and processed sugar and started experimenting with a low-carb diet.

It helped, but I was still stuck with a bad case of brain fog — and my digestion got so messed up this year that I could barely eat a raspberry without unleashing massive burps.
