In theory, I think OkCupid could be a good dating app—once you answer a decent amount of questions, you can get much more accurate matches than with Tinder, et al. HOWEVER, what’s the point of a great matching system if you have 99% in common with a person and Like/Message them, but they never see your profile?

For example, I live in a small city, so I have to increase my range to 500 miles to even get a couple close matches. People in larger cities might never think to do this, and thus will never see my profile.

I get the need for protecting users against offensive messages, but how about using the matching system itself to help with this? I’d imagine that one person who matched another person 90% and up would be much less likely to send spam or rude messages. I would even be ok if this was a paid feature. As is, OkCupid is basically useless if you don’t live in a large city and A-List doesn’t offer any helpful features, either.
