It’s funny how space and rest can radically change your beliefs. When I’m exhausted, I fall back on addictions and empty-calorie behaviors…but when I’ve had a good night’s sleep, I naturally make the right choices.
It’s like mental health is a hot air balloon.
We’re all programmed to fly, but without hot air (energy), we just fall into a giant lump on the ground, taking on the shape of whatever’s beneath us.
I’m hoping this story and others will start to expose the truth, which is that people don’t need to be persuaded to do the right thing—they just need enough time and freedom to be their real selves.
p.s. What an interesting time to be a therapist. I’m jealous! 😀
