New forms of communication can be exhausting, but the human mind is amazingly flexible. Just like learning a new language, your subconscious will gradually fill in the “gaps” of a video call over time.

And, anyway…what is life if not constant change? If everything stayed the same, there would be no point in living—no direction or purpose.

Mourning the past is ok, but attaching yourself to the past is fatal. I’d rather welcome the present with open arms and open eyes than spend the small amount of time I have stressing over what I had.

If video chats make you exhausted, stop chatting so much. Write letters. Draw someone a silly comic. Read the same book and then compare notes. Learn a new skill. Post a video about what you learned….

There are a million ways to get creative with the apocalypse—we just have to stop worrying about the doors that close behind us and start exploring the ones that open up ahead! (:
