On the bright side…sometimes the people who fall for “get rich quick” schemes are not the kind of clients you would want anyway.
As a web designer, I used to stress about this waaaaaay too much. I thought I had to lower my prices to compete with DIY (Wix, Weebly, etc). The opposite was true. Once I started charging more, the DIYers completely fell off my radar, and the clients I attracted were much more rewarding to work with. They cared about their businesses and valued their own time enough not to spend $5,000 to save $500. Ironically, charging more has been the best advertising strategy I’ve ever used.
