Winter Barefoot Running Shoes & Apparel I Use to Stay Warm & Dry
February 26, 2020 — Winter barefoot running might sound kinda crazy, but with the right footwear, you can get a barefoot feel without barefoot frostbite.
For the first two years I was running in barefoot shoes, I mostly stayed on the roads, so winter was no big deal.
But this year, I started running on trails…and when it turned cold, the wet grass and slush were just killing me because my VivoBarefoot Primus Lite’s had some tiny cracks in the sole and water was coming straight in through the toes of my Vibram V-Treks.
I looked everywhere for a waterproof barefoot shoe, but I don’t like to run with more than four millimeters under my feet, so that basically eliminated everything.
Except, this one thing…
Thermal Insole
This is the VivoBarefoot Thermal Insole. It’s basically a space blanket for your foot, and it does two things…
One, it reflects your body heat.
And two, it acts as a waterproofing layer, so even if you have cracks in the bottom of your shoe, the water won’t reach your foot.
